![]() ![]() Overall, it’s better in some ways and worse in others, so let me get started with the gameplay. A prequel comic was released later called Road to Fortune, explaining the events between 1 and 2 chronicling the Vegas outbreak. Before they released this however, they released a sort of DLC prologue called Case Zero, set after an outbreak in Vegas starring Chuck and his daughter that was only released on Xbox Live Arcade (which not putting the DLCs on PC is an L move by Capcom to be honest) but had a neat feature where you could reach level 5 and transfer that progress into this game. Now I’m unsure how exactly they got hired by Capcom to make the game, but according to a Dead Rising wiki page they were chosen because they had an emulator that made more zombies appear on screen. Before Dead Rising 2, Blue Castle was mostly known because of their baseball titles like The Bigs and MLB: Front Office Manager. I still recommend DR2 because it improves a lot of things from the 1st game, but at the same time it's presentation is a lot worse and the personality is way less apparent.ĭead Rising 2 is a game developed at the time by Blue Castle Games, aka the defunct Capcom Vancouver. ![]() Psychopaths feel too tryhard, and all those weird ass things you only find in japanese dev games is no more. ![]() It's very fun to try out different combinations and make use of them in different situations.Īll the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy stuff from the 1st game, including it's jank seems to be missing from DR2. DR2 does make this up though with the weapon combination mechanic. In DR2 everything feels like paperweight and there is no satisfying feedback as in the 1st game. Dead Rising 1 has amazing feel and weight to all your attacks and when zombies get hit. The combat itself is probably the most disappointing part for me. In Dead Rising 2 everything just seems overly lit and saturated, and all places look like they are covered in vaseline. Dead Rising 1 had a very flat lighting which worked very well within the setting. But almost everything else i loved from the 1st game is sorely missing.ĭR2 somehow looks way worse and uglier than the 1st game. Survivors arent more braindead than the zombies anymore and they actually follow you back to the safehouse, making the gameplay loop much more smoother. It improves on many aspects from the first game, most importantly the survivor AI. ![]()
